Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder that affects about 1-2% of the population. People with OCD experience both obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are unwanted and disturbing thoughts, images, or impulses that suddenly pop into the mind and cause a great deal of anxiety or distress. Compulsions are deliberate behaviours (e.g. washing, checking, ordering) or mental acts (e.g. praying, counting, repeating phrases) that are carried out to reduce the anxiety caused by the obsessions. Dr. A.J Allen explains in simple terms how OCD works in the brain.
Most people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) fall into one of the following categories: “Washers” are afraid of contamination. They usually have cleaning or hand-washing compulsions. “Checkers” repeatedly check things (oven turned off, door locked, etc.) that they associate with harm or danger. “Doubters and sinners” are afraid that if everything isn’t perfect or done just right something terrible will happen or they will be punished. “Counters and arrangers” are obsessed with order and symmetry. They may have superstitions about certain numbers, colors, or arrangements. “Hoarders” fear that something bad will happen if they throw anything away. They compulsively hoard things that they don’t need or use.

Scientists at the Germany’s Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and engineers of the NEK Ltd. have been working on the project OrcaM (Orbital Camera System), a giant automated 3D scanner which builds 3D models of any objects automatically and able to produce perfect digital copies of any object.
This clip demonstrates the OrcaM 3D reconstruction system.
OrcaM is capable of producing an accurate, digital 3D model of objects up to 80cm (about 31.5 inches) wide and weight up to 100kg (around 220lbs) and with a geometric accurary less than millimeter (nearly .04 inches). Also it produces complete color, texture and reflectivity maps so that every minute detail is accounted for.
