World Championship In Giant Slalom: Tina Maze (SLO) Won Gold Medal

Slovenian skier Tina Maze has won the gold medal at the giant slalom at the World Skiing Championships in Garmisch Partenkirchen.

Coming into the race on a streak of four silvers at major competitions, held the lead after the first run. The lead from the first run would prove enough for Maze’s first gold ever and Slovenia’s first at a World Championships in 22 years. Marusa Ferk from Slovenia was 26th.

“There are no words to describe it. there was no way I was going to leave without the gold today” said Tina Maze.
